There is a lot of talk about the use
of cell phones while driving now days. Why, because it’s dangerous. Here is
some valuable information that might make you put your cell phone away and
concentrate more on driving.
Statistics show that around 2500 and
maybe even more deaths are caused every year from texting on your phone while
driving. Imagine how your family would feel if they received “I’m going to” and
they didn’t get anything more because you were killed while texting. I bet
whatever you were going to do could have waited until you either pulled over, or
got home. Text while driving and you may never end up making it home.
The other usage of your phone while
driving is talking. It isn’t easy trying to dial a phone number while driving
70 mph down the highway and truthfully it shouldn’t be happening. Holding your
phone up to your head while driving isn’t exactly a safe driving practice
either. The bottom line is that your not fully focused on driving your vehicle
if your using your phone in any matter whatsoever, but if you refuse to take
full usage of this advice, at least buy a blue tooth.
At this point it is legal to drive
while using your cell phone in Florida, but they are working on banning it. The
bottom line is, legal or not it isn’t safe.
So, how is this going to affect my Florida car insurance rates? The answer is simple. If you cause an accident while
on your phone, you are going to get a ticket and an at fault accident going
against your insurance record. This will cause you to get a substantial
surcharge and cause you to pay hundreds of dollars more on your car insurance.
So what’s the answer to this new
driving hazard? The easiest answer is to put your phone away. If you feel the
urge to talk while driving, then get a headset so that you can drive less
distracted. If you choose this option, then remember to make the call while you
are parked and not try and dial your phone while flying down those beautiful
Florida highways!
